The 5th Constitutional Government of Timor-Leste was Sworn in on 8th August 2012
The new Government of Timor-Leste led by the Prime Minister, H.E. Jose Alexandre Xanana Gusmao (from CNRT party), has been sworn in by the President of the Republic, H.E. Taur Matan Ruak on Wednesday, 8th August 2012, at Palacio Nobre, Dili, Timor-Leste.
The government is formed by coalition parties namely: National Congress for the Reconstruction of Timor-Leste (CNRT), Democratic Party (PD), and Front of the National Reconstruction of Timor-Leste (Frente Mudansa), after a peaceful and democratic parliamentary election on 7th July 2012. CNRT party has won the simple majority and therefore has entered into a coalition agreement with the Democratic Party (PD) and Frente-Mudanca party to form the 5th Constitutional Government. In contrast Fretilin as the second majority party continues to lead the opposition in the parliament.
