Charity event: Love knows no Borders on 15th Sept 2012
The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Beijing participated in the annual “Love knows No Borders” International Charity Sale initiated by Madame Le Aimei, wife of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on September 15th, 2012. This year’s Charity Sale aims to raise funds for the Lifeline Express Bright Journey to perform free surgeries for cataract patients in poor areas of Xinxiang, Henan Province. This is the second time that our Embassy participated in the same event.
The Embassy of Timor-Leste sold a variety of Timorese products, including organic coffee, homemade organic chili, traditional Timorese handcrafts, traditional Timorese food, Timorese musical CDs and Diplomatic Envelopes of 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Timor-Leste.
Madame Le Aimei visited the Timor-Leste booth, engaged in friendly conversations, tasted the Timorese Coffee and expressed her found impression of the Timor-Leste products.
This year, the Embassy had the honor to have the former Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste and spouse Mrs. Chen Tieli supporting our staff in promoting Timorese products. Timorese students and the Embassy’s staff are proud to have participated in the event.
We had doubled our fund raised last year and contributed the proceed of the sale total at RMB 11,410.00 to the found of “Love Knows No Borders” this year.
In the mean time, the sale event has raised public knowledge to the ordinary citizens who are spending time in the park, it was a successful promotional effort.
