Day Two Two Mr. Sun catched a huge fish together, one beautiful girl picked up a star fish alone. We spent a wonderful night in Dili. The next day, Ambassador Vicky took us to go snorkel diving. We rented a boat for 850 US Dollars for the whole day. Lunch on boat was 7.5 US Dollars. The diving gears cost 15 dollars per person. Fishing cost 15 dollars, extra 5 dollars with bait. We thought it was way too difficult for us to fish, so we only rented the diving gears. It was dry season at this time of the year (From May to November is dry season, and the rest is the rain season. Some areas have four seasons which are rain season, cold season, wind season and dry season). The sky was clear and the sea was blue. We were surprised that we did not see any seagulls, maybe that was because the seagulls were a bit shy to meet the first tour group from China. Our boat rode along the coast, and the 27-meter-high statute of Jesus Christ watched us riding to the deep ocean. There was a fitting room on the boat, but in order to save some time, on boat. After changing the clothes, we all jumped into the sea right away.
The distance between Beijing and Dili is 5,000 kilometers. Timor-Leste locates in tropical area, so it is necessary to put on sun cream before going into the water. Where we stopped the boat was close to the beach, so there was no seaweed. The water was light blue, clear and warm. Mrs. Tian was the initiator of our tour. Unfortunately, her husband could not go with us because of illness. Therefore, Mrs. Tian had to leave her husband and led us to Timor-Leste. Mrs. Tian was not really good with water, but she was brave enough to dive to the bottom of the ocean and caught a star fish which looked like a plastic one. Once we were sure that it was alive, we put it back to the sea. On our way back to the beach, Captain Ryan casted the fishing rod into the water. We thought it would not work. Suddenly, Captain Ryan yelled and asked Mr. Sun to give him a hand. It took them 10 minutes to catch the 70-centimeter-long fish. We all took photos with the fish. We were supposed to be charged 20 dollar for the fish. However, Captain Ryan gave the fish to us for free since we were the first tour group from China. Ambassador Vicky’s hat was blown into the water, Captain Ryan expertly stopped the boat and turned a couple of times and get the hat back. Since then, Ambassador Vicky always held her hat tightly.
Ambassador Vicky took us to Tibar for dinner. In Tibar there is a restaurant located on the mountainside, facing the sea. It was Middle Autumn Day, so it was full moon. Ambassador Vicky asked restaurant to cook the fish in a Timorese way, which was very delicious. We tried the local fish, boiled black beans and vegetable salad. After that, we shared the moon cake that Yuanyuan brought. We only spent 30 dollars each for this fancy dinner. After dinner, we all took photos together.
