Day Four Watched the beautiful views on the road, enjoyed the beer at the beach.
In the fourth day morning, when Ambassador Vicky came to pick us up, we found out that Ambassador Vicky lost her voice. It was all because that Her Excellency has been accompanying us for the trip. We were very touched, and we suggested Her Excellency to go back home and take a rest, but she refused. Lind offered the medicine that she brought and asked Her Excellency to take the medicine on time.Today we traveled 200 kilometers to get the second largest city, Baucau. It was mountain road on the way. We traveled through plain, forest, rocks, valleys, wasteland, rivers. This was a wonderful contact with the nature. There were a few cars on the road. Sometime we could only see one on the road car within an hour. That was not only a opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view, but also an opportunity to observe the local culture. When we drove into towns, we saw the merchants in the markets, buses with full of people, graves with cross or goddess, which reminded us the huge cultural difference. Chinese people barely have Grave in yards.Mr. Zhao wore his sunglasses all the time. He was funny and cool. He put on sun cream on the side that met the sun. Unfortunately, the mountain road changed direction all the time, which kept him busy on putting on sun scream. It was 16 dollars each for lunch. Two little girls discovered a mountain full of monkeys. They fed the monkeys with food and had a good time.In the afternoon, we arrived in Com Beach Hotel which was an eco-hotel on the beach. All the rooms were made of stones, and the roofs and appearance were decorated with woods. It was 72 dollars for a standard room. Credit cards were not accepted. The wild plants flourish in Timor-Leste, so it’s better to have the insect repellent. After a short break, we went swimming in the sea.We had delicious barbeque fish for dinner . The fish was 60 dollars and the dinner was 5 dollars for each. We talked and laughed while we were having the local wine and beer under the full moon and stars. We chatted with the drivers as well. He said he was 42 years old with 7 children. His wife was 31 years old. We were shocked that his first son was 19 years old and we wondered how old his wife was when she was pregnant with the first child.Ambassador Vicky’s throat was better after taking the medicine. The drivers even asked for the medicine after seeing its effect.
